Bff is a mobile app that allows users to meet new friends based on personal stories and shared interests. Designed for young people aged 20-30, the app helps them connect with others in their local area.
The Problem
Due to COVID-19 and the lack of routine activities, people are finding themselves seeking new connections and looking to expand their social circles.
The Solution
An app that enables young people aged 20-30 to expand their social circles by connecting through personal stories.
The Process
Statistics And Conclusions
I created a survey to explore how many people aged 20-30 experience loneliness daily, the reasons behind it, and how it can be reduced.
The main conclusion from the survey is that people need friends to alleviate loneliness.
Meeting new people online and building meaningful friendships requires more than just a picture - deepening connections through shared experiences and common interests is essential.

Personas
Based on the questionnaire and its conclusions, personas were created.
The responses from the questionnaire were used to identify needs, work status, and personality characteristics in order to build the personas.

Overview - Similar Apps
I researched various dating apps that align closely with my product’s target audience, including Tinder, OK Cupid, and Bumble.
My research focused on their user flows, how they create a welcoming space for users to share information about themselves, the key elements of a user profile, the types of profiles users are exposed to, and more.

From this research, I drew several conclusions and made key decisions:
1. User Profile Focus: In BFF, the primary focus will be on the user’s written text, rather than their profile picture.
2. Relevance: Users will have control over the stories they see by selecting categories of interest, instead of relying on a random algorithm.
3. Guidance: Users will be encouraged to write their stories through guided questions to help them share meaningful details.

The Flow
Design system
1. Typography: Sans-serif, rounded, and clear, designed in a small size to reflect a friendly yet informal tone.
2. Icons: Rounded to complement the typography, combining letters and illustrations for a cohesive visual identity.
3. Color Palette: The primary color is orange, chosen for its warmth and energy, and to differentiate it from colors commonly used in other dating apps.
Screens

The feed is displayed only after the user has registered and uploaded at least one story.
It displays stories from other users, filtered by the user’s selected distance and categories defined during registration.

Uploading A Story
The process of writing a story is divided into five steps: categories, questions, format, assistance, and writing the story.
These steps are designed to simplify lengthy stories, focus on the core message, and provide guidance for users who may struggle with writing.
